Coir
Board organized participation of Indian coir sector in
the International Horti Fair held at Amsterdam,
Netherlands during 1-4 November, 2011. Shri. Dinesh
Singh, Joint Secretary (MSME) along with Shri. K Ananda
Babu, Marketing & Publicity Officer, Coir Board led a 10
member delegation to Netherlands for participation in
the Horti Fair. The Horti fair is the world renowned
fair for horticultural products where the buying
community of plants, flowers and other horticultural
products and representatives of large scale Green Houses
world over meet annually and decide their purchasing
strategy for the ensuing year. Coir pith is an
excellent soil less growing medium with high water
retention capacity and advisable nutrients contents and
PH value and low Electro Conductivity. In view of the
ecological problems caused by the mining of peat moss
and consequent ban imposed on the mining of peat moss in
certain countries the acceptability of the coir pith at
as a substitute for peat moss is increasing rapidly and
is opening up new horizons for Indian coir pith sector.
Coir products like coir pith, coco chips, garden
articles, coir geotextiles, coir pith blocks of various
size, grow bags, coir pole etc. along with blow ups and
posters were displayed in Board's pavilion in the fair.
Coir Board extended display facility and table space to
all the exporters/entrepreneurs participated through
Coir Board's booth and facilitated them to canvass
export orders. An exclusive brochure on coir pith
products and garden articles was distributed in the
fair. Different publicity materials and other product
information were also disseminated.
Board's pavilion attracted a large number of visitors
and they showed keen interest in the products being
exhibited in the stall. The Sree Lankan Coconut
Authority under the chairmanship of Sri Sugath Handunge,
the Principal secretary to Govt of Rajasthan,
Horticutlture Department, Govt. of Rajastan, Dr. Dinesh
Kumar Goyal IAS, Mr. Tom de Vesci, the member in the
'Sustainable Growing Media Task Force', a UK Govt.
Advisory Board were also visited the stall and held
discussions with the officials. The coir participants
were able to generate more than 200 nos. of enquiries
and expect a firm order around Rs.2 Crores. |

The
Board organized participation of Indian coir sector in
the Australian International Sourcing Fair held during
22-24 November, 2011 at Sydney, Australia. The national
participation in the fair was organized by India Trade
Promotion Organization, New Delhi. Representing Coir
Board, Shri. George Roy, Designer attended the
exhibition. A common Pavilion was arranged by Coir Board
in the fair for participation of exporters/entrepreneurs
from Indian coir sector.
An attractive display of coir and coir
products was made at the exhibition along with display
of blow ups and posters. Different publicity materials
and other product information were disseminated. The
response was very encouraging and the Board as well as
the exporters received a lot of trade leads from the
exhibition. |
